At MEDLIFE, we're dedicated to building a global movement that empowers disadvantaged communities in their quest for equality in healthcare, education, and access to a safe home. As a volunteer in the Service Learning Trip (SLT) program in Riobamba, Ecuador, you'll contribute to development projects, participate in educational workshops, and provide free medical care to those in need. Additionally, you'll have the invaluable opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture and understand other realities.

8-nights dorm room accommodation for 6 to 9 people, exclusively with MEDLIFE participants.
3 meals a day are provided Monday-Friday, along with breakfast provided on the weekends.
To and from the airport (within the established schedule), and to SLT activities.
The insurance requires a $250 payment as a deductible for coverage.
Arrive into Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) between 5 pm and 11 pm. A MEDLIFE representative will be waiting for you in the International Arrivals area with MEDLIFE sign. Once all volunteers have arrived, you will be shown to the bus that will transfer you to the hostel in Quito.
After breakfast, we'll travel by bus to Riobamba, enjoying scenic views during the 4-hour journey. Upon arrival, lunch will be served, followed by free time to explore the main square. In the evening, there will be an orientation meeting to discuss the week's activities and safety guidelines.
Mobile Clinics are held daily in different communities, 30 minutes to 2 hours away. Volunteers unpack supplies, meet health professionals, and start clinics at 8-9 am. Patients go through vital sign recording, educational talks, consultations, and prescription filling. Clinics close around 1-3 pm. Volunteers may assist in community projects during the week and enjoy evening activities before dinner.
Today's full-day Reality Tour offers insights into the region's geography, politics, and society. Begin at the Iglesia de Balbanera, Ecuador's oldest church, learning about Spanish colonization and Catholicism's influence. Explore local artisan goods before visiting Hacienda Totorillas, a 19th-century estate showcasing agrarian reform. Then, head to Feria de Guamote, a central Andean market, to experience its vibrant atmosphere and local fare.
After working on either the development project or a mobile clinic, for the first half of the day, all volunteers will then head to the development project site for an inauguration celebration with the community.
Exploring Quilotoa & Baños (Full day experience), Today you will head to Baños, a small vibrant city at the foot of the Tungurahua Volcano south of Quito. Nestled into the mountains where the Andes meet the Amazon, the area is a remote paradise home to sweeping views, extreme sports, and plenty of local tradition.
Continue exploring Ecuador or return home.
Depart Quito anytime from 10 pm Saturday to 12 pm.
