About Tamarindo

Costa Rica is known for its incredible biodiversity and natural beauty, but economic inequality and limited access to resources continue to affect many communities. In 2025, 19.3% of rural households were living in poverty, compared with 13.6% in urban areas.

Through your Service Learning Trip (SLT), you’ll work alongside local communities on projects shaped by local needs while learning firsthand about health, sustainability, and the social factors that impact communities in Costa Rica.
